Sole Searching?

Christian_Louboutin_Shoes-213.jpg 600×399 pixels

Knock-offs. Designers for a long time now have had to accept that this is just a part of life/business. Some even say imitation is the biggest form of flattery?! After the Manolo Blahnik craze calmed down (a bit) and was replaced by the Christian Louboutin obsession I wondered who would be the first to knock off or imitate is some way or the other his signature red sole?

Who would have ever guess that it would be none other than – no, not Steve Madden- but luxury brand YSL!!!
And needless to say, Mr. Louboutin is not too happy about this. Can you say “je vous verrai au tribunal?”
And for anyone who does not parlez vous francais that simply means “See you in court”

Leslie loves Louis!

Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2010-11 Ad Campaign | nitrolicious.com

Wow, Marc Jacobs has really outdone himself on this one! The new Louis Vuitton is beyond beautiful and using 3 generations of supermodels didn’t hurt either!

Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2010-11 Ad Campaign | nitrolicious.com

The campaign was shot in New York by Steven Meisel and the 3 decades of supermodels are respresented by a blonde (Natalia Vodianova – the “baby”), a redhead (Karen Elson for the 30’s) and stunning Christy Turlington for the 40’s. Marc Jacobs had this to say:
“The strength of Louis Vuitton is its almost magical ability to reinvent itself every season,” says Artistic Director Marc Jacobs. “Last season was all about the idea of the New Age traveler. This season was a manifesto for beautiful, ladylike clothes. Two different collections, two different campaigns, but one Louis Vuitton.”

This is ladylike personified and something I’d say we haven’t seen in quite a while. How refreshing!!! Take that Boho!

If this doesn’t bring back the ponytail, I don’t know what will!!!

How do you like them apples?

Cindy Crawford Poses In Lingerie Surrounded By Apples For Russian Department Store TSUM (PHOTOS)
I think the first thing I wonder if how much Cindy got paid for this job and I’m pretty sure it must have been a ton!

Cindy Crawford models lingerie for Russian department store TSUM. Shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot, here she is doing what she does best – with sultry eyes, blood red lips, wearing Dolce and Gabana, Stella McCartney and more. Helmet Newton would be so proud!

I’m guessing the apples have nothing to do with a “back to school” theme (!), If they were going for the “temptations” theme, I think they’ve clearly succeeded, the shots are really stunning!

TSUM is the largest department store in Eastern Europe and previously they have used Daria Werbowry, Naomi Campbell and Milla Jovovich in their campaigns and sell major designer labels including Rouland Moret, Carolina Herrera and Victoria Beckham(!).

I think I definitely prefer this campaign to her JCPenney’s bedding line but hey, a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do…………

Here’s $100k, now take a seat……..

Iconic Ines!

Ines De La Fressange_ French Women Are Arrogant, Ignore Fashion (PHOTOS)

From minute one I loved Ines de la Fressange. An interesting, classic beauty with a ton of personality and talent!
She was the muse for Chanel and then went on to open her own store in Paris. She now is the brand ambassador for Roger Vivier. In an interview for Vogue she explains her job:

“I love this question. Six years ago you’d have asked me ‘What is Roger Vivier?’ Now it’s known. I have done my work – my role was to relaunch this brand and to see how it could be possible now. “I don’t have a very precise title. I have a funny job,” Fressange, noting she doesn’t have a card, admits. “I see artists that do things for us, meet journalists, special work. It’s very nice, it gives me freedom. Every hour is very different.”

Here’s a different type of hour! Ines, who is now 51 years old, models in Gaultier’s October 2009 runway show.

Tom Ford to launch women’s line

Tom Ford to Launch Women's 'Very Soon' - Fashion and Design News and Trends - WWD.com

Seems that securing financing these days is hard for everyone, even Tom Ford! Ford and his longterm business partner Dominico De Sole are working with Credit Suisse to find about $50 million in funding. But even after that is secured Ford says he will have to assemble the team, find the factories and all the other goodies that are required when putting a line together.

Meanwhile, it seems Fords stores in Tokyo are doing really well (no surprise there) , read the whole store here!

Are they still selling clothes?

J.Crew Collection - Exclusive Women's Clothing, Fashion & Jewelry - Women's Dresses, Sweaters, Shoes & More - J.Crew

Not to sound like Frumpalina but it is interesting in a recession to opt for sexy/showing less clothes than maybe getting more bang for your buck but SEXY is definitely the direction J.Crew has decided to go for their collection.

This model looks like Eva Herzigova’s little sister!

Some styling works better than others, that is for darned sure……

Andre Leon Tally watches Golden Girls & Wears Uggs!

Andr矌eon Talley - interview - Time Out New York

And tells us in this very funny interview from TIME OUT NEW YORK that Helmet Lang is also a Golden Girls fan (I mean who didn’t love Bea Arthur?!!!)

The subject of this most recent interview is the documentary The September Issue by RJ Cutler a “docudrama about the making of the Fall 2008 September issue” which chronologs the drama between Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour and Creative Director Grace Coddington (who is a major cat lover!)

Additionally Andre’s pension for tennis, Louis Vuitton, Michelle Obama and making a difference. Yes, you heard me right!

Celebrity Designers:Now here’s a surprise!?!

Katie Holmes' Clothing Line to Hit Stores This Fall - Katie Holmes

I just read that Katy Holmes, yes, wife of Tom Cruise, is designing a line of women and children’s clothing along with her stylist Jeanne Yang appropriately called Holmes & Yang. The collection will be debuting at Maxfield’s in Los Angeles and as the website Hollyscoop so aptly put it “If you’re not familiar with Maxfield, it’s that super high-end and overpriced store on Melrose where only celebrities seem to be able to afford the merchandise. ”

What’s going on? Will every actor soon have to have a line of clothing or fragrance (oh, don’t even get me started there!!!). What is Meryl Streep’s line going to look like? Howabout Clint Eastwood? What will Al Pacino’s cologne smell like?

I can’t wait and you bet as soon as I find out you can read about it here! This is, after all, very important information!

Rachel Roy for Macy’s

Rachel Rachel Roy for Macy2019s Collection | nitro:licious - fashion, trends, h&m, shopping, sneakers & lifestyle...who's got flava?

Although she’s not a celebrity per se so we can’t really add her to the post below, this falls into that grouping of Vera Wang for Kohl’s, Rodarte for Target etc. Rachel Roy just debuted a line for Macy’s! Apparently the line goes from $59 to $299, shoes from $79-$199 and jewelry up to $195 and handbags up to $109. She’s got it all covered!

They say the line is composed of pieces such as “swank crepe jumpsuits, studded skinny jeans, velvet mini-dresses, faux fur gilets, painterly print tunics, zippered sheaths, cozy snap front cardis, bejeweled tees, quilted shoulder bags, graffiti print pumps, sequin clutches, floral booties, chain-strewn boyfriend blazers, elegant puffers and purple patent wingtips,” (Vogue UK). What more does a “girl” need, right? Although if this is back to school, I definitely went to the wrong school!
