Iconic Ines!

Ines De La Fressange_ French Women Are Arrogant, Ignore Fashion (PHOTOS)

From minute one I loved Ines de la Fressange. An interesting, classic beauty with a ton of personality and talent!
She was the muse for Chanel and then went on to open her own store in Paris. She now is the brand ambassador for Roger Vivier. In an interview for Vogue she explains her job:

“I love this question. Six years ago you’d have asked me ‘What is Roger Vivier?’ Now it’s known. I have done my work – my role was to relaunch this brand and to see how it could be possible now. “I don’t have a very precise title. I have a funny job,” Fressange, noting she doesn’t have a card, admits. “I see artists that do things for us, meet journalists, special work. It’s very nice, it gives me freedom. Every hour is very different.”

Here’s a different type of hour! Ines, who is now 51 years old, models in Gaultier’s October 2009 runway show.

Ten Fashion Resolutions for Vintage Fashionistas
While I’m sure there are far more important resolutions on your list for 2010, I’ve compiled a few fashion resolutions that you might also want to consider …

1. I will think Quality, not Quantity.

This year invest in quality, because less can definitely be more. Sure, it means you’ll probably end up purchasing fewer pieces, but those pieces will serve you for years. This is especially important for classic items that never go out of style: a black skirt, a cashmere sweater, a pair of wool trousers.

2. I will make friends with a Tailor.

Without a tailor, it’s practically impossible to have clothes that fit properly. And fit is critical to having your clothes look great. Very often, if you tailor an outfit to fit, you will suddenly fall in love with it all over again. Tailors are also able to reinvent tired ol’ pieces with their sewing magic. They can shorten a dress, change the buttons on a jacket, or even add grommets near the hem of a coat.

3. I will not be a label snob.

Label snobs miss out on all the wonderful items from the Land of Lost Labels and all the wonderful pieces made by talented seamstresses who never had their own lines sold department stores. Besides, even the best designers put out some not so fabulous pieces over the years. Seek out quality and timeless style first, then take a peek at a label.

4. I will choose more organic and natural fabrics.

Even die-hard vintage fashionistas don’t wear all vintage every day. But regular cotton production accounts for 25% of the world’s total pesticide use, and oil is used to produce most synthetic fibers. There’s a huge green payoff for Mother Nature when you support manufacturers who use organic and natural fibers, so consider this the next time you shop for contemporary clothing.

5. I will shower my wardrobe with TLC.

Treat you clothes well and they’ll return the love for years to come. That means hanging them on the proper type of hangars, cleaning wool and cashmere before storing for the summer and cushioning with tissue-paper when necessary. And it’s worth the investment in archival boxes for your most valuable vintage items.

6. I will dry-clean less and hand wash more.

Unless a label says “Dry clean ONLY” chances are you can gently hand-wash it in a product like Eucalan. For those items that must be dry cleaned, choose an eco-friendly process.

7. I will shop online.

According to the Center for Energy and Climate Solutions, shipping ten pounds of packages by overnight air uses 40 percent less fuel than driving yourself round-trip to a local store. And your carbon footprint will be even less if you use ground shipping or the USPS which is already stopping at your home everyday.

8. I will donate, not trash, used clothing.

Someone is sending those 7 million tons of clothes and shoes to landfills each year. Don’t let it be you. Even if your clothes aren’t in tip-top condition, many charities will take items that never make it to their store floors and sell them to rag houses.

9. I will not wear vintage from head-to-toe.

The most stylish women today are the ones with a knack for mixing high-end with low-end, vintage with contemporary. Get inspiration by paging through magazines to find a look you like and then replace one piece of the ensemble with a similar vintage item. You’ll never have to worry that your look is more costume than chic.

10. I will dress not to IMpress, but to EXpress my authentic self.

Developing a personal style that reflects your true authentic self will have you looking good and feeling good, and that confidence will shine forth for all to see.

Best wishes for a fabulous and fashionable 2010 everyone!

Tom Ford to launch women’s line

Tom Ford to Launch Women's 'Very Soon' - Fashion and Design News and Trends - WWD.com

Seems that securing financing these days is hard for everyone, even Tom Ford! Ford and his longterm business partner Dominico De Sole are working with Credit Suisse to find about $50 million in funding. But even after that is secured Ford says he will have to assemble the team, find the factories and all the other goodies that are required when putting a line together.

Meanwhile, it seems Fords stores in Tokyo are doing really well (no surprise there) , read the whole store here!

Are they still selling clothes?

J.Crew Collection - Exclusive Women's Clothing, Fashion & Jewelry - Women's Dresses, Sweaters, Shoes & More - J.Crew

Not to sound like Frumpalina but it is interesting in a recession to opt for sexy/showing less clothes than maybe getting more bang for your buck but SEXY is definitely the direction J.Crew has decided to go for their collection.

This model looks like Eva Herzigova’s little sister!

Some styling works better than others, that is for darned sure……

Another disasterous Model TV show

'Beautiful Life' Star Sara Paxton Stranded In NYC With 6-Month Lease, New Furniture, Blown Mind

And I got suckered into watching the first episode! I can’t help it! Knowing that Ashton Kutcher was Exec Producer and that Elle McPherson was playing an agent I thought they might actually get it right. What actually got me was when I was channel surfing I saw they had Zac Posen and one of his “fashion shows” as the opening scene. Maybe they would really do a good job of covering the proffession. Ha! Boy was I wrong as it immediately got completely ridiculous!

Switch to Mischa Barton as ultra super model racing from the airport because she, and only she can pull off the red dress and save the show!!! wow, what power! in fact, super powers! Has something like this ever happened? Please, Linda or Naomi, give me a call, dying to know……..

So long and boring story short (cocaine, midwest boy gets major campaign etc etc) the show is cancelled leaving lots of very unhappy ingenue model/actors. Actor Sara Paxton will tell you all about it. Read the whole article here on Huffington Post. And if I had time….I would check and see what Ashton Kuther is tweeting about but maybe I’m too busy working on that new script of mine about what really goes on behind the scenes of a photo shoot!

Andre Leon Tally watches Golden Girls & Wears Uggs!

Andr矌eon Talley - interview - Time Out New York

And tells us in this very funny interview from TIME OUT NEW YORK that Helmet Lang is also a Golden Girls fan (I mean who didn’t love Bea Arthur?!!!)

The subject of this most recent interview is the documentary The September Issue by RJ Cutler a “docudrama about the making of the Fall 2008 September issue” which chronologs the drama between Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour and Creative Director Grace Coddington (who is a major cat lover!)

Additionally Andre’s pension for tennis, Louis Vuitton, Michelle Obama and making a difference. Yes, you heard me right!

Michelle does Merona!

Mrs.O - Follow the Fashion of Mrs.O: What & Who She's Wearing - Home

I would do it, but then I’m not the first lady!

Forget the stupid should-she-wear-shorts issue, much much more interesting and super cool is that Michelle Obama recently wore a Merona dress from none other than Target!

It takes a very stylish and very confident woman to pull this off and I’d say she’s done it – again!

This dress is from a “past collection” we will unfortunately not be able to track sales but I’m sure awareness in Merona has reached a new height! A true celebrity endorsement!

Social Media Rules: The Gap on Facebook!

Facebook | Gap

Wow, the Gap is really cool and so advanced! With sagging sales they put two and two together, took a good look at what was happening around them and in their market and came up with a killer Social Media campaign! Check out their Facebook page above and the campaign below!

Womens Clothes: jeans, tops, skirts, dresses, pants | Gap

Talk about amazing FREE ADVERTISING!!!! How smart is this? And actually, how fun too! They really did a great job with this new 1969 Jeans campaign (BTW, 1969 is the year the Gap was founded).

Read the whole story here on Clickz.com and lets see who’s next!

Celebrity Designers:Now here’s a surprise!?!

Katie Holmes' Clothing Line to Hit Stores This Fall - Katie Holmes

I just read that Katy Holmes, yes, wife of Tom Cruise, is designing a line of women and children’s clothing along with her stylist Jeanne Yang appropriately called Holmes & Yang. The collection will be debuting at Maxfield’s in Los Angeles and as the website Hollyscoop so aptly put it “If you’re not familiar with Maxfield, it’s that super high-end and overpriced store on Melrose where only celebrities seem to be able to afford the merchandise. ”

What’s going on? Will every actor soon have to have a line of clothing or fragrance (oh, don’t even get me started there!!!). What is Meryl Streep’s line going to look like? Howabout Clint Eastwood? What will Al Pacino’s cologne smell like?

I can’t wait and you bet as soon as I find out you can read about it here! This is, after all, very important information!
